- New aluminum hinge leafs for lower maintenance costs.
Stainless Steel Rear Frame is Engineered For Added Stiffness And Resistance To Dock Impact Damage.
- Utility builds in extra floor support at the rear threshold by using 5-1/8" deep hi-tensile steel channel cross-members that are welded to both the slider subframe and the bottom of threshold plate adding strength where it's needed most.
- Threshold plate is also fully welded to both the buckplate and the 24" deep side gussets for unequalled strength and durability.
- Utility's totally integrated threshold plate design substantially reduces docking damage.
- No fasteners to work loose reduces maintenance.

Heavy Duty King Pin Assembly Provides Optimum Durability. |
Heavy Duty, Support Legs Provide Optimum Strength. |
- For greatest resistance to "dishing," Utility's approach plate is reinforced by six formed hi-tensile steel channels.
- King pin section built with 1/4" hi-tensile steel top and bottom plates for added strength.
- Cruciform style king pin eliminates oil canning.
- Complete king pin assembly flooded with rust preventative coating, inside and out for reduced maintenance costs.
- No corrosion, no loose bolts... 3/8" diameter no rust stainless steel squeezed rivets positively attach king pin section to bottom rails.
Inset: Approach plate is turned up a full 12" up the front wall for increased pick up strength and reduced puncture damage. |
- Aerospace style wingplates with collared holes and embossed ribs for added strength and lower tare weight.
- Formed channel "X"-braces for increased strength.
- Web stiffeners between front and rear pairs of cross-members are designed to absorb uncoupling impact.
Tough Interior Plywood Lining For Extra Strength. |
Reinforced, High Strength, Front Wall Means Less Maintenance. |
- Hard-working full l/4"thick plywood lining decreases wall punctures.
- No snag, full length aluminum coaching rails are used between rows of plywood to further protect cargo.
- 1/2" plywood on lower 48" of the front wall to resist fork lift damage.
- Anti-snag design metal fasteners used throughout the entire trailer to guard against damage to freight.
- Extra strong, 6061 T-6 alloy extruded aluminum corner posts are easy to maintain or replace if necessary. 6" radius design provides square loading at front corners to maximize inside length.
- Four 2" deep galvanized 14 gauge hi-tensile steel hat posts for added strength.
- Each front post overlaps a full 8" over the approach plate turn-up, to provide maximum resistance to fork truck impact.
- Steel "TEE" reinforcing bars are welded to the vertical approach plate in between front wall posts to reduce impact damage.

Side Walls Designed For Maximum Strength & Tare Weight Efficiency. |
Modular electrical System For Decreased Maintenance and Downtime. |
- In order to provide the most payload possible, Utility uses' .050 skin in high stress areas and .040 skin in low stress areas. The result: Reduced tare weight and increased payloads.
- Galvanized hi-tensile steel side posts with 3 additional posts over king pin and 1 additional at legs for added protection and extended trailer life.
- 12" high Utility designed galvanized steel wearband with formed reinforcing angle at lower edge, increases strength and stiffness and decreases maintenance.
- Externally mounted gladhand and nose box for easy access and simplified maintenance.
- Recessed and protected lower rear side clearance lights. Less damage means added savings.
- Conveniently located plug-in connectors throughout the entire electrical system.
- Stainless steel air and electrical protector.
- Stop/turn taillights grounded through the harness.

Before the first Utility customer took delivery of the newest generation of dry freights, Utility had already delivered something else. Real value. Because it's built-in to the design itself of every dry freight we make. Designs that were the result of years of research and user interviews. Designs that were tested and retested - in the lab and on our infamous torture track - only to be redesigned and retested again. Designs that deliver what you wanted. Dry van trailers with real value.
At Utility, we've really put the dry back in dry freights with trailers that are built tight. And stay tight and dry. And now, with the sophisticated retooling of all of our regional dry van plants, delivery is just as convenient no matter which side of the Mississippi you're on. The new Utility dry freight product line includes virtually every conceivable construction method and material; sheet and post, vocationally designed grocery models, and FRP vans. All offer greater durability, greater cube, and less tare weight. Every one designed to increase your productivity and profitability by lowering life-cycle costs and reducing your cost per mile. Now that's real value.
That's what Utility delivers.
